Upgrade on premises IP PBX system from conventional PBX System

To have an on-premises IP PBX system, you must have IT personnel, the required hardware equipment and, of course, enough capital to purchase the required hardware and install it at your premises.

Although, there will be some capital expenditures for the time being but your enterprise will enjoy a better service and cost advantage in future.

It was impossible for the legacy PBX system to work with IP packets. The legacy equipment could work with the IP only after attaching some network adapter to it. Only then it could work in the IP PBX environment.

Upgrade your conventional system with the IP PBX on-premises system to cope with situation. This upgrading will be quite cost effective and much better as against the conventional PBX.

Upgrading to On-Premises IP-PBX system:

There are more than ways to upgrade you legacy PBX system with the state of the art on-premises IP PBX system.

One is the forklift approach to address the problem. But this method is time consuming and costly. This option should be used in case you have very old PBX equipment. In that case it is the only alternative to work on IP with the legacy PBX system.

But many organizations would prefer to make use of their legacy PBX equipment until its cost and lifecycle support is expired. If an organization has many branch offices and hundreds of extensions then this upgrade of the equipment must be done step by step so that the system continues to work and no problem in the business occurs.

The good news is that the legacy PBX and on-premises IP PBX can work alongside with a type of hybrid configuration. For this purpose a VoIP routing function may also be used.

Legacy PBX and VoIP system switched together:

Another alternative is to employ a VoIP module that could be plugged in the legacy circuit-switched PBX. This technique will go a long way to hybrid the both devices. Both of the components the VoIP module and the legacy PBX will be connected through the same gateway.

In this way, an organization can decide to continue using the legacy PBX system along with the on-premises IP PBX system. The life of the old system will be extended and the new system may be used at the newer branch offices.

The new system may also be used on basis of requirement and needs. Thus, the legacy system may be used until it becomes obsolete side by side with the IP PBX system.

But, if your legacy PBX installation has become almost obsolete then it is more desirable to change it with the new IP PBX system by the forklift approach. As this is the only way for your organization to cope with the business needs of the contemporary organizations.
